For Some

Poster Message:
I have to agree this is absolutely true for SOME. If your grandma can name the old row houses or your best friends from HS grandmas can, then OR has appeal. But let’s be serious, if grandma (or your friends grandma) can’t name these houses then there really isn’t a “distinction”. Despite what your read here, OR doesn’t have a lock on “money”. There are “rich” girls and girls on loans in every house, and the idea of “old money” isn’t relevant in any house to any large degree. When the topic of “old money” comes up, the conversation is usually cringe-worthy, y’all don’t have a clue. Some OR houses may have a stronger southern/Christian/Conservative feel, and they like to think they have “more class”, but tastes across houses are generally more similar than different. You can find plenty of s-ut- outfits, girls jumping the fence (because they’ve slept with more than 3 guys in a certain frat) and girls who are too drunk in any house these days. Physical structures are similar. Parties and social events are similar. Yea, maybe some houses hang out more with guys from “the right” Alabama/certain-southern locales, again beneficial to some, but there are others who think - you can have them as they are stereotyped guys with Dad bods with bad hair. Given that the numbers for out of state students are similar to in state, the appeal of OR is there - but certainly diminishing.
