From personal experience and observations, only connections can keep you from getting cut from old row + pi phi, zeta, and maybe adpi if you aren’t good looking or especially if you are overweight. All the girls you see in those houses who are average looking/chubby either grew up in Alabama or are from another major area (private school atl, Memphis, etc) You will almost definitely get a bid if you have the bare minimum of good grades and the ability to hold a convo, which it sounds like you do. But it’s good to be realistic about what bid that may be.
