I would definitely have a tan! Airbrush tans work great (when a person airbrushes you) or also, Palm Beach Tan (right on campus in the same shopping center as TCBY) does great spray tans! One of my sorority sisters who is a crimsonette and gets sprayed here once a week! Just be sure to go in there and tell them your concerns (that you've never had a spray tan..that you don't want to be orange...ect) and they will work with you. Also, with a spray tan, you must moisturize A LOT to keep it from flaking off and they only last for about 5 days...so I would get one right before rush and maybe right after philanthropy days and one right before pref.
