Ranked by necessity: 1. Athletic wear. The vast majority of people wear wear athletic (or "ath-leasure") wear to class. This consists of t-shirts, running shorts, leggings, yoga pants, sweaters, sneakers, etc. This is literally what you'll be wearing 75% of the time. 2. Party attire. Parties here aren't small kickbacks where you can just wear whatever. Girls here love to dress up for parties. This consists of skirts, nice tank tops, heels, etc. Just an FYI - no one here wears bodycon skirts or dresses to parties, I know it's popular at some schools but it's not here. 3. Business-casual. Whether it's for chapter, a job interview, or a public speaking class you'll need at least some more professional clothes. Some houses require girls to wear strictly dresses to chapter, some houses require business-casual, some houses only require girls on Exec to dress up... You can't go wrong with bringing a few extra simple dresses. A lot of girls end up reusing dresses they wore during rush if they need to dress up. And a lot of gameday dresses can work too. It would be wise to also bring a few collared button down shirts and/or very nice and professional blouses just in case. Things not to pack: - High school apparel. Most sororities have a rule that you're not allowed to wear high school apparel. - Extra t-shirts. Maybe a handful of your absolute favorite just to get you through the first few weeks, but you'll get a lot of free shirts during get on board day and most older actives are always selling their t shirts for like 5-10 dollars. And of course as the semester progresses you can buy more and more JNJ shirts. At a certain point you'll find yourself never even touching your old t-shirts you brought from home. - And just everything you haven't worn in a while. If you haven't had the opportunity to wear something in the past year or two, you'll probably never have an opportunity to wear it in college. Sell old clothes to Platos closet and get some extra spending money. The absolute worth thing you can do is overpack.
