Fraternities have fences separating the backyards. If you sleep with 3 guys in one house you need to “hop the fence” so to speak. It’s because if you sleep with too many guys in one house they’ll talk about you in chapter and you’ll prolly get a nickname too. If you spread it out there’s less chance of people connecting the dots. It sounds pretty bad on paper but the concept makes sense if you understand it.
