You need recs! There is info about them in the Recruitment section of the Alabama Panhellenic website. I send them in for lots of Bama PNMs. As for your friend who got a Chi-O bid, I'll bet at least one of her recs was for Chi-O. Same for the one with six recs. It's likely her bid was from one of the six. Some sorority nationals require them. Typically in the SEC, if you don't have recs to a specific sorority, you're in danger of getting dropped by that sorority after first round. You said friends at other schools have agreed to give you recs. While some sororities will accept recs from undergrad members (at different schools from where the PNM is rushing), recs are USUALLY sent in by sorority alumnae. They would use a form from their nationals and send it to their sorority's Bama chapter, along with your photo and resume. You may know more alumnae than you think. Ask every woman you know who went to college if she has a sorority affiliation. Teachers, coaches, neighbors, bosses, ladies you know from church, babysat for, your mom's friends, your friends moms. Your parents can ask co-workers. I know people who found recs for their daughters by posting on Facebook that she needed them. The response was great! Read the info about recs at the Panhellenic site and keep working towards getting them for every sorority at Bama. Good luck to you!
