The "Tiny Kingdom" nickname fits. MB is truly a legend in its own mind -- very, very insular, and very proud of its snobbery. If they don't know you or your "people," you're not going to break into the social scene no matter how rich you are. The thing is, only a few areas are truly spectacular when it comes to the homes (like Old Mountain Brook near the country clubs). The rest looks like your average generic middle-class suburb.
