A bid from Phi Mu is generally more hard to get, especially as a sophomore and especially if you don't know anyone in the house. In general though, I don't think you should bring up the rec situation during rush. If anything, maybe reach out to the alum again and she if she could possibly do anything? I know when I rushed an alum forgot to do my rec and she ended up calling the house directly... But really don't worry about it at this point. Everything happens for a reason and please be more open minded during rush! Every house is amazing if you're willing to give it a chance.
