The thing about talking about your experience with other girls is that you can start to compare yourselves to them and it can turn into a competition. I lived in Tut my freshman year and my roommate and I ended up in different houses, but I remember going home every night, having dinner, taking a shower, and then just talking to my roommate for hours about rush. Looking back now, I can tell that it was more of a subconscious competition to see how many houses we got asked back to, how many actives in one house spoke to us, where we were seated, how many friends we had in our Rho Chi groups, etc. I also remember my roommate telling me how much she loved XYZ and I went into rush not wanting it just because I didn't want to be in the same house as her... Which was SO stupid of me because when I was in their house I didn't put in as much effort, but looking back I think I could've been really happy in that house. Obviously, this is just my experience, but I know that a lot of girls feel pressured or feel inadequate during rush because of tent/roommate talk. My biggest piece of advice is to keep your true opinions to yourself and be open minded to all houses.
