All over Greek Life you hear talk about costume parties and theme parties where people dress up as things. That is simply cosplay with a more rigid theme. Not sure why you'd knock 'cosplay aficionados' as being a negative. It take creativity, craftiness and skill to make a good cosplay, and not everyone who does is some afflicted dweeb. Maybe visit places outside of Alabama occasionally.
