I would say if your planning on taking out more than $1500 don't do it. You don't want to drown your self in bills before you've even get started. Although if you do work during the school year it could be managed. Its not the most glamorous job in the world but servers/waitresses DO make a lot of money, especially in a town like TTown where people are going every night of the week. I worked as a server this summer and my first check was about $320 for two weeks of work and keep in mind most restaurants only pay their servers $3-4/ Hour. And that doesn't even include tips. But it just depends how much time your willing to spend working, which will probably be less than 20 hrs if your a freshman and in a sorority. But please don't put yourself in a financial hole if you know you can't afford it this year. Maybe work this year and during the summer and try and rush sophomore year?
