Personal reasons? Idk, they get invited to join every year but they decline. That being said though, they do have a lot of girls who are A PART of SGA. Like I said, the Machine doesn't control every aspect of everything on campus. They were a lot more influential when grandma went here but now they try to influence campus politics as much as they can through backing certain candidates for certain positions. There's also been a huge pushback on the Machine. If you Google "the Machine" a bunch of stuff comes up. There's a lot of people, usually liberal GDIs, who don't support the Machine. And the Machine has also been involved in a lot of physical damage and threats to the campus and to individual people... I know there's a site that has archives of news articles about like everything the Machine has ever done, so if you're still interested I suggest you check that out.
