It is definitely supposed to be a felony charge, but if you have a good attorney or you're a cute white girl our criminal justice system is going to give you an easier time. Still - I've never thought it's worth it. It's gonna show up on a background check and it will basically bar you from ever taking a job within the federal government. Maybe you'll get lucky but maybe you won't, and if you get the short end of the stick the consequences can be MASSIVE.
