A small percentage of sorority women do stay involved after graduation- seeking meembership in an alumnae chapter or even serving as an advisor or other volunteer capacity. Many more will use their sorority connections to expand their career network and help find jobs- ie, seeking out older XYZ's who are, for example, fashion industry insiders who work in NYC. In a perfect world where every 18 year old PNM knows exactly what career they want to pursue and where they want to live, it may be helpful to know that DG has a huge alumnae base on the West Coast or that Theta is very prestigious in Texas or that AOPi and AGD have more representation in the Northeast. Or that some sororities have alumnae chapters in Europe and other parts of the world while others don't. These benefits seem more accidental than intentional though- ie, you won't know that you want to stay involved as an alumna unless you have an amazing experience at Alabama. So again, it goes back to pick the house your heart sings for on Pref Night.
