<strong>Subject:</strong><br />cornell greek life rant<br /><br /> Poster Message:
wish people would chill with the rankings and actually have fun in greek life here. everything is banded and more about social status than any state or sec school i've visited. sure at these schools greek life is big and can be draining but not the way it is here. here people are more concerned with restricting events and pushing rankings rather than planning mixers, fun games/opportunities/events (think bigger derby days, grand prix, homecoming events, etc.), tailgates (schools tailgate in the snow we could at the very least do something for hockey), bigways, building relations between frats and srats, or performances(best example i can think of is lambda recently with the bubble party and fetty wap). this slope day was great bc so many different groups came together. i know it can be expensive but A) cornell students specifically those in greek life are predominantly VERY WEALTHY esp in top tiers (bc they legit rush for it) and B) if state schools can afford to do this.... how can a private school not? i know we are adjusting as we open back up but greek life doesn't have to be this exclusionary or competitive. it was made to have fun and meet people not to be hard and weird and pretentious don't you get enough of that from everyday life at cornell? tldr: can we just agree to chill and have fun this yr instead of miserable
