I was a freshman last year who lived in Patterson, and this is so not true. When I joined my sorority I instantly was thrown into a pool of awesome girls to choose from as friends. My sorority had meetings and fun short gatherings for us multiple times a week for the first month. I immediately ended up in a group of friends based on different mutual connections (friends from home, suite mates, hall mates, same classes) and we all had pregames together, ate together, went to the same functions, ran errands together and would even go on short trips with each other to visit hometowns within a couple months of knowing eachother. This group expanded from about 15 girls to a larger group of about 40. Obviously it took awhile to know EVERYONE, but that is not the sororities or the girls fault, that's USC's fault for not taking the initiative sooner to expand, not that it really matters to me at the end of the day. By the end of the first semester I knew every face and name in my pledge class. I know my bigs entire group of friends and all of my friends bigs. In sororities here you still have sisterhood and make lifelong bonds but no, you are not going to know every single junior and senior unless you have a reason too like they're on exec. And no, you're not going to be best friends with all 100+ girls because you can't be. This post and it's comments are pretty stupid over all in my opinion though. If we didn't have sororities your fraternities would be pretty useless as well.
