You will receive one bid and one bid only. The algorithm tries to match you with your number one but if you are not high enough on their bid list to match with them before they reach quota then it tries to place you with your number two. If you are not high enough on their bid list either then you are still placed with one of them even when it puts them over quota. If you have only one pref house and put them on your card you will get that bid. If you decide to only list one of your two pref houses, which is an option, you are not guaranteed a bid because if they reach quota before they match with you then you are done and out of the process. This is called Single Intentional Preference (SIP), or "suiciding". Pnm's should only SIP if there is no way whatsoever no matter what that they would accept a bid from one of their pref houses. It's okay to do this, but a lot of girls in this situation choose to give that house a chance and are very glad they did. When you sign your MRABA card after pref you are committing to a binding contract for one year that you will accept the one bid you are offered from among the pref houses you rank on your card. If you don't accept that bid, or accept and drop later, you are not eligible for another bid until next year's fall recruitment. If you have a clear favorite pref house you need to TELL THEM at pref and not leave them guessing. If they aren't sure how you feel they will rank you lower on their bid list. Hope this helps.
