1) The sororities are doing the choosing. You may absolutely love certain houses and rank them highly but that's not a consideration for how and who they decide to invite back. They don't even know the pnm's ranks, it's not a factor, they are choosing who they think is best for their membership. It is not until pref that your ranks actually carry equal weight to those of the sororities. Your ranks only come into play if more sororities want to ask you back than you can have on your schedule, which does not happen for the vast majority of pnm's. Please remember that when houses cut you, not if but when, it is NOT personal. You did nothing wrong, there is nothing wrong with you, you were not judged to be inferior, they liked you just fine and would still want to be friends with you. But it's a numbers game and each chapter is given the number of pnm's they are allowed to invite back each round and not one single girl over. Also remember that their final invitation ranking each round is a chapter decision, so even if you really connected with who you were talking to and you both thought each other was amazing, each member is only one vote. If you get cut it's just because you were below their cutoff number and that's all it was. Pick yourself up and put a smile on your face for the next round. 2) It's all about your personal vibe fitting with a sorority's vibe. Sororities are all looking for the same thing in a pnm: cute, sweet, fun, and will she be an asset to the chapter. Those qualities are all interpreted differently by the different chapters based on their house vibe. How you fit is based on how you click with who's rushing you and also with who might have known you already from high school. Be yourself and don't try to present yourself based on what you think chapters are looking for because it will be a disaster of a rush for you. Present your best you and be confident and you will find your home. 3) Trust your instincts. Sorority recruitment is not the time for a lot of analytical comparisons, and certainly not for other's opinions. Every house offers a great sisterhood and an amazing social life. Find your own people, you will be able to sense it. If you are conflicted about choices you have, ALWAYS GO WITH YOUR GUT. And wherever you get your bid, throw yourself into the experience with a full heart, meet as many people as you can, and put yourself out there to be as involved as possible. Good luck.
