1. There are chapters on campus that have a national policy of “must have rec on file to pledge” so you will be cut from those chapters right off the bat. 2. After the first round, many chapters need to cut hundreds of PNM’s to get down to the number of PNM’s they are allowed to invite to Philanthropy. Grades & recs are the easiest cuts to make so expect more cuts from the top houses without a rec, 3. Yes, we (rush team) read the recs. The ones that stand out are usually the strongest ones written by someone who knows you well or a negative rec alerting us to someone who doesn’t display strong character / morals. Being out of state with no ties to A&M - you NEED recs to get on the radar!!! You almost certainly know sorority women, you just don’t know it. Have you asked all of your teachers, families you babysit for, women you know from Sunday school or your summer jobs or volunteer work? Have you asked your friends’ mother’s & grandmothers, or your mom and grandmas’ friends? You don’t have to find an Aggie Kappa or Aggie DZ to write your rec. Any alumna from any Kappa or DZ chapter can write one. Quick though- we’re already receiving tons of recs. You have just about 2 weeks to pull this together so we can receive by Aug 1.
