1. formal rush is about a week long with each day being a different round. As the week goes on you learn different things about each sorority and you get invited back to a few through a mutual voting process. it ends with the last round called preference where you select one sorority and the next day (bid day) you receive which house you got. The rounds are go greek, sisterhood, philanthropy, and pref 2. You can be involved in other things on top of a sorority, but you might find it overwhelming being an engineering major and adjusting to college. some people choose to rush as a sophomore once they're more adjusted to college life 3. I absolutely love my sorority! its been so rewarding to meet so many amazing young women and the events/ parties/mixers are so much fun!! The only thing I'd ay I dislike about it would be certain mandatory events that can sometimes get in the way of studying 4. You shouldn't "avoid" any sororities, but there might be some that you come to learn you don't fit in much with. each sorority here has a "label" and during rush you'll see into a little more on each one's personality 5. read some of the previous posts about the general characteristics of each. some are pretty accurate generalizations, but don't let this site be the reason you do/dont want certain houses. You will be proven completely wrong at recruitment because (obviously) not everything on here is accurate 6. Usually no one here cares if you're in a sorority or not. You can be involved in plenty of other things and still be "cool," and you can still be in a sorority and be "weird". It all really depends on your own personality. But no one here really judges or cares if you're in one. 7. Most important tip that you'll hear SO much: BE YOURSELF :) if you feel like you have to "pretend" to be a different person to fit into a house, then that is NOT the place for you. Your future sisters will love you for who you are
