Yes, there are chapters on campus whose nationals require a rec in order to get a bid. Here's how recs work: 1. You network to find 1+ alumnae from every sorority at A&M. Your rec writers need to be alumnae, not actives, and can be from any chapter in the country. They don't have to be A&M DG's to write your DG rec, for example. A neighbor who was a DG at U of Houston or Florida could write your rec. Ask EVERY woman you know if she was in a sorority! Teachers, neighbors, your friends' moms, etc. If your friends are rushing at A&M or any other school, ask who's writing their recs and if you know those women, ask them! 2. Once you have women who have agreed to write your recs, you'll give them a packet with your resume, transcript, and headshot (in classic clothing, not a prom dress or athletic uniform). Be sure to write a thank you note in a timely manner as they will spend a few hours on your recs! 3. The alumnae take it from there! They mail or email your packet & rec directly to the chapters at A&M. No one at the chapter will ask you if you have a rec or ask to show it. The rec writers will not provide you with a copy and do not ask for one either.
