I went to school with the kids who try hard and live in the suburbs and talk about how much money they have because they go to the richest school in the area. the kids at my high school were try hards. they were not nearly as well off as people in other areas but since their parents didn't put much into property investments, they came out with nice cars and clothes. I live in one of those neighborhoods mentioned now (hp/memorial/westlake). the people in my new neighborhood, while aware that they are better off than most, don't care much to flaunt it since everyone they know has money. everyone has it so they know it isn't a defining factor in who you are. in highland park even a TINY lot is gonna run you a million dollars, so saying they don't all have money is a bit naive.
