The first thing I noticed when I got here was that people talk about mission trips A LOT!!! Considering one of my grandparents is from the particular country in which they LOVE to do their missions, it made me very uncomfortable and it felt really creepy. How would you feel if your hometown was where people go and "help" so they can get into heaven? Second, I wasn't used to the lack of diversity. Anyone who tells you this place is diverse is either lying, or has no idea what diversity looks like. Last, even though I got into one of the better sororities, they just aren't my people. I continue on and am one of the more"chill" less involved members, but it's not what it could have been if I went to UCLA or UCSanta Barbara (both places I did not get into, but could have if I went to community college first). It's like everything, you play the hand you were dealt, and this was mine. It's fine, but I don't love it, and if I had other choices I would take them.
