I went through recruitment last year and was very unaware of how the process worked. I had one rec letter for about 7-8 houses from a few of my cousin's friends. They are not extremely important like at other schools, but they definitely don't hurt either. I would recommend getting at least one a house, but do not think you need lots of letters to have a chance. I absolutely love the house I am in and only had one letter from someone I barely knew.
