I suggest you get as far ahead in your classes as possible before rush! During rush, which this year will be the week before mid terms, is impossibly hard! You go to classes in the morning and afternoon, rush at night. Homework is impossible with all the emotions and excitement of rush. So many teachers are anti-greek and will purposefully schedule tests and quizzes and papers this week! Immediately after rush week, your schedule becomes impossibly full! You will be having pledge meetings, theta encore practice (all new pledge classes participate in learning a dance), philanthropy activities (we all raise a ton of money), pledge retreats, swaps (every week), date parties (less often than swaps), small group activities (to help you get to know your pledge class), pledge bible studies (not mandatory), etc. You will have a very full schedule. In the spring things quiet down A LOT! There are not as many swaps, and you are no longer a pledge. There will still be date parties, and philanthropy activities, and Derby Days to practice for (another dance), various intramural activities, an occasional swap, and fraternity formals (always a blast in New Orleans). If you are not good at juggling school with social life, you may have a problem! You might want to think twice about going greek if you're not disciplined.
