If a girl rejects a bid, she does not get to choose to accept one from another house. The way it works now is on pref night after a girl has gone to her two houses, she ranks those houses #1 and #2. #1 is the house that she would most likely want to be at the next day (bid day). #2 is her next choice. Sometimes girls "suicide", meaning they only list a number one house and not number two. After the girls rank, it is matched up with the houses' lists and most girls end up getting their number ones on bid day. Then there are some, who are not high enough on a house's list to get their number one and therefore get their number two house on bid day. It is guaranteed now that a girl will get either her number one or number two, so there is not crosscutting. However, if a girl suicides and isn't ranked high enough on a house list she might not end up in any sorority.
