Yes, as a matter of fact, I am from Texas. Are you insinuating that we do things wrong? I rush last year and had a near perfect rush, only being dropped by one house (that I know of). I preffed three top houses and ended up in my first choice. I'm so glad I got all my packets in early! Also for the record, I had exactly one rec for each house (chapter alumni when possible) and multiple letters of support to back up each of my recs. It all worked for me and I was just an average pnm.
