Agree that it's hard to give up family love for a school. I come from a long line of OM grads (Greek as well) although I'm from Mississippi so didn't have to go far. I think the most important thing to know is a) how you might do in rush given no connections and being from far OOR. and b) that your wealth, etc. won't matter when it comes to getting into certain houses. And honestly, I wouldn't go around talking about the things you posted here (family's money, RR, etc.) - many people find that off-putting in general, not just because of being from OOR/OOS. If you can deal with how rush could likely go, etc., then you'll be fine. And if you want the SEC experience and are looking at other schools, Alabama and Georgia rate high with some people I know. Good luck making your decision.
