honestly, both are great houses and don't listen to people who say you don't have a chance if your not a legacy. I was a legacy for DDD and went KD. I sure a lot of legacies go to different houses. I ended up loving KD because of the love I felt from the sisterhood and how kind they were to me. I took DDD to sisterhood before dropping them and still loved them. They are also amazing. Going through rush here is very stressful but you will find your house I promise. Legacy or not. With that being said, I would say the philanthropies are very different and if that is something you are interested in I would recommend doing research on all of the different ones before rush.
