First, your odds of pledging as a sophomore are reduced at OM....there are houses that will pretty much immediately drop you. There are other houses that will consider you if you make a good connection and have other qualities they want. It can happen even if sophomore pledging is a challenge. As for transferring and affiliating with an OM chapter - that's hard. I've known girls who did that and here's the challenges: 1) Friendships are already intact among girls, including those your age. That doesn't mean you can't make friends - you can - but it can take more work to do so; 2) Different personality among chapters. One sorority might be a lot of very academically, low-key girls at one school and a lot of party girls at another. 3) I know people hate tier talk, but here's where I've seen transferring be hard: a girl can transfer from what is a top, middle or lower tier chapter to another chapter that is totally opposite and that can be a hard fit. I know a girl who transferred from a top chapter to her new school where her sorority was lower tier - it just wasn't a personality fit, not better or worse, but not a fit. Likewise I've seen the opposite happen too. In short, don't count on being a personality match to a house at OM if you transfer as a member from your current school. I'd try to rush and see what could happen. At least that way you'd know if you are a personality match to the house.
