I know as a PNM things can be really overwhelming and rush is such an unusual situation that it's natural to want to know as much as possible and control as many variables as you can. I went on GR all the time before I rushed to try and "learn" about the chapters and only ended up even more confused once actual recruitment started. This site is NOT the place to find good advice or answers to your questions. That being said: All chapters take OOS girls. Some take more than others, some take girls from states further away than others, but there is not a single house that is 100% Mississippi natives. All chapters have fun, friendly, supportive girls, date parties, and activities going on. These houses have hundreds of members, you can find friends and fun girls in any of them if you actually try. Even the "bottom" houses will have parties with fraternities and chances to find dates to formals. Everyone's rush experience is unique and there are no absolutes, only most likely scenarios. For example, it's most likely that OOS PNMs with strong connections to DDD will get a bid over OOS PNMs with no connections or rec letters. But there will be one person to pop up and say "I know someone in DDD who pledged with no connections and no recs from OOS" because exceptions do happen. If you're the best PNM you can be, you'll find the place to fit. With variable quota chapters have even more control in picking the PNMs they think will best fit their needs. This means you can't go in with preconceived notions about chapters you want based on what's popular in your hometown. You may think you want Pi Phi now, but who knows how you'll actually feel when you meet those girls? Maybe you'll love them, but maybe you won't. Keep an open mind for ALL the chapters.
