This responds is not accurate. Yes, there are sororities on this campus that are heavily based on legacy and connections, however NO ONE knows at this 'stage of the game' which sorority will be their home. Even if the Moms have already decided, the ACTIVES still have some say in the process. And, while it may be true that the legacy/connection sororities don't read applications or resumes or rec letters, that is not true of the other sororities that will look at these available items as well as getting to know the students as they come through recruitment. For half of the sororities on campus going to z or y high school or z camp is not relevant. They will look for future members based on whether they will be a good fit for their sisterhood based on resume, GPA, and meeting them. And THERE ARE such things as STRONG pnms. Those STRONG pnms may not end up in one of the Mississippi legacy sororities but they will end up in a sorority that will appreciate them.
