It honestly depends on what region in the US you're from and if you live in a big city, small town, etc. Oxford is a small, cute college town. We have some unique things to do like Faulkner's house, underground tunnels, etc. but most things like that are only fun once or twice. We have some cute boutiques on the square but not really any big chains and often getting stuff from those boutiques mean you'll have the same clothes as many other people at Ole Miss. We don't have a Target, Whole Foods, Urban Outfitters, etc. but we do have Ulta, Marshall's, Belk, Walmart, etc. The people are very southern and huge Ole Miss fans. Game days are a lot of fun and a very unique experience. But that is only 6 or 7 weekends out of the year. Ole Miss students are very passionate about sports (football mainly) and like to go out most weekends and often during the week too (not everyone though. just a large part of greeks do go out multiple times a week). The campus is beautiful and not too big so you can walk to all your classes and its a pretty walk. It honestly just depends on the person and you'll just have to come visit to see. If possible I would try to visit on a normal day and on a game day so you can see both sides. I love it and would never consider transferring and all my friends love it but I know there are people that regret coming here and some that even transfer. I am from MS and most of my friends are from MS or surrounding states. A lot of people that come here grew up coming to games and their parents went to Ole Miss. but there are tons that are from way out of state and have no connections to Ole Miss at the same time. Come visit!! We'd love to have you.
