You can get letters and shirts online without being in the fraternity or sorority, it's not like anyone checks when you place an order. When my brother's fraternity got shut down the actives protested by throwing out or donating their shirts and merchandise to Goodwill. He said it was weird seeing homeless people walking around town in their letters, lol.
