connections

Poster Message:
You can't really define connections since it varies from house to house. Also every house picks it's new members differently. Usually with top houses an alumni group has most of the say so and the active students have very little say so. And as you work your way down to bottom tier, the students have most if not all of the say-so. Most houses have students votes, but most house's actives don't even know how much their student votes are counted. Top houses: -have to be a legacy from ole miss -for non legacies, w/ variable quota it's nearly impossible. having a few best friends in the house isn't enough. you had to have grown up with them, your legacy best friends parents and your parents have to be good friends, etc. Mid houses: -legacy helps, doesn't have to be from ole miss -notice a lot of out of region girls (NY, FL, TX) actives that have PNMs that went to the same high school helps a ton. -mid tier I think is the only group that actually looks at your applications, and pays attention during rush and tries to find the best best. (top tiers are picked before rush begins, bottom tiers just want to meet quota so they can't be too selective). Bottom houses: -legacy not required -you don't have to know any actives prior. just meeting them during rush, during talks and connecting with 1-2 actives and having them pull for you is enough
