Ole Miss is a smaller school in a smaller town and (I think) has a higher proportion of Greeks vs. Bama. If you're not Greek here, you may feel left out socially, and you'll probably have to work harder to make the most of your Ole Miss experience. Bama is larger and has a somewhat smaller percentage of Greeks. They still rule the school, and with The Machine, you pretty much have to be Greek to get your foot in the door when it comes to SGA and other leadership opportunities, honor societies, etc., but there are enough independents and enough things to do and ways to get involved that Greek life isn't absolutely essential.
