I agree with the poster above. Forget the tiers - there are great girls in every single house. Be respectful, have fun and go to every party like it's the house you want. If you rank both houses after pref, you will get a bid. Accept the bid you get - even if you're not sure about the house - and go find your sisters. Might take time to feel like you fit in, it takes work, but plenty of us have done it. One other tip I think helps given how competitive it is this: you need to be memorable so that girls in a house push for you to come back. By that I mean be someone who can carry a good conversation, has fun, knows how to ask good questions (don't talk non-stop) and be confident. If you're fun, engaging and find girls in the house to really connect with, you'll find a home. I've known girls from far OOS with no connections and they did just fine.
