Well, we all knew variable was a temporary thing to even the playing field a bit, but according to panhellenic it wasn't suppose to run a full term (4 years) and could end as soon as next year! Variable quota was set up to create more diversity, not make each house even or "middle tier". All houses here are fairly equal compared to other schools where there is a significant difference between tiers. Basically, in the past you had legacies and the same girls from the same houses go to the same top tiers. The objective was to put a tight restriction on the top houses so they can no longer play favorites (legacies and same high schools) and thinking since the houses were restricted, they would pick the best girls.... but it didn't quite work out. Top houses are just more strict with their favorites since they can barely fill their legacies, and the top houses are even less diverse. We may not have the best Greek system, but we have the hardest. If you are a non-legacy and didn't go to one of these popular high schools that fill top houses, your chances of a top house is impossible. With OOS enrollment dropping and top houses complaining, it will soon be ended
