While that may seem like a reasonable backup plan, I have to tell you that it's not that likely to have a successful rush as a sophomore. First of all, there are far fewer spots for sophomore members of a pledge class (sometimes 1 or 2 spots per class if the sorority has lost a member or two) so the competition is much tougher. Secondly, most chapter have a policy that once a PNM is cut, she is cut for good, whether for 2017 or 2018. I wish I could tell you that you will get everything you want, but that is not how recruitment works for many PNMs. The truth is that most PNMs grow to love their chapters if they give them a chance. You have only met a smattering of girls at each sorority at this point and each house has hundreds of women. If you get a bid, take it and run! I speak from experience having gone through rush my sophomore year. That said, I hope you get your first choice. If not, you have nothing to lose by showing up on bid day and giving the other house a shot. You're committed to them for a year anyway if you signed your bid card. I wish I could give you a hug or a pat on the back. Everything will work out okay. I am cheering for you.
