To @pnm: Glad your mom took your legacy cut well and glad you found a house you love. A couple of things I've noted from your post and some others: First, chapter legacies do get "first look" at many schools, not just OM and not just in the South, but at lots of schools with a competitive Greek system. Second, even top tier houses at OM are cutting chapter legacies so it's not just non-chapter legacies who are let go. Third, my house looks at all legacies very closely, not just chapter legacies, and if think they are not a fit, we cut them (even chapter ones). And there are some girls from OOS with no connections to top tier houses who get in so I suspect your cut was likely because of this. And last, you listed your honors, etc. Unfortunately that describes loads of girls going through rush here so even being a legacy with an impressive resume isn't enough. Hope you continue to be happy in your house!
