Aside from lack of recs/connections, bad grades, reputation issues, not ranking strategically, or suiciding, there are a few PNMs who are so socially awkward/shy that they get released. PNMs who are heavier or less conventionally attractive can always offset that by dressing well and projecting confidence, but if you can't make basic small talk for 10 or 15 minutes, it's going to put you at a disadvantage.
