Some houses can’t get full pledge classes for a few possible reasons: 1)they don’t have a house (TPA, ASA) and therefore PNMs become less interested in them 2)they have to “take who they can get” and that ends up creating a house with no personality where people don’t share interests or goals or traits, and they end up not being friends and having no sisterhood 3) with them having no overall personality, PNMs can’t relate to the house and don’t see themselves in there. They would rather drop out of recruitment than join that house 4) the rep. Being made fun of by frat boys for “being a bad house” makes them have “bad” pairs or no pairs, and this reputation does impact PNM’s decisions of giving that house a chance or not. Conclusion: this creates a cycle where the house doesn’t have enough girls, therefore doesn’t have enough money to have a house, therefore can’t throw events or participate in a lot of greek life things, therefore has a bad rep, therefore can’t get enough girls. It’s hard to pull themselves out of that cycle without a lot of help, and in the end it’s very risky for PNMs to try and give it a shot when that means you can’t re-rush and join another house ever again in life
