In my chapter “top tier mentality” doesn’t mean only agreeing to join “top tier” chapters. It means being willing to put in the work to make your chapter as good as it can be, even when it’s hard. Not having a house is not the end of the world. Many universities have unhoused greek life or a mix of housed and unhoused chapters. Girls in unhoused chapters will be able to live with their sisters in apartments, have alcohol in their places, have boys over, have parties, all the things you can’t do in-house that many sorority women at other campuses see as a reason not to live in when they have the chance. IMO the key is going to be collective bargaining. Indiana tried to do mixed pairs before but the frats wouldn’t go along so we folded. Stand your ground and do big group pairs and events, and let frats be on their own if they won’t agree.
