I did not get the house I preffed and ended up in my chapter which happens to be lower tier.. I stuck it out, I’m a senior now, made some friends but they’re not my people and my social life didn’t only come from my house. I’m NOT saying drop a house because of a tier, at all, but if you GENUINELY don’t feel like you fit in the house you got a bid to, ITS OK TO DROP!! I wish someone would have told me this earlier because I felt pressured to stay and make the best of it, and honestly, I don’t have much in common with the majority of girls in my house unfortunately (I ended up in a very academic house, which is not bad, but for me has caused a lot of anxiety because my house is always putting pressure on “getting the best gpa in Greek life” which, honestly I don’t find that important - have a good gpa and get that degree!) We just seem to have different views/ideas on life/ideas on what we find fun, and it’s unfortunate for me that I don’t feel a strong bond or sense of pride in my sisterhood. In fact, the majority of my friends are in another house. Again I’m not saying to drop just because it’s not your first choice, but sometimes the rush process doesn’t go right and it isn’t perfect for everyone, and it’s okay to acknowledge that. There are different vibes for everyone! Find what you like, and if you have to re-rush, that’s ok - I know a bunch of girls that did and are way happier. Follow your gut. If it doesn’t feel right, it’s probably not. Don’t let this site force u into the idea that you will fit in every chapter or that you HAVE to stay where you got a bid because “that’s where you belong”... you don’t.
