Subject:
hired security at frat events

Poster Message:
Like at other universities across the country, IU IFC would be best served to require each frat event to hire professional security at their events. The upside to the policy would be that other uninvited fraternities may be less likely to crash an event. If the case comes up that uninvited guests use poor judgement and try to gain entry to an event guarded by a professional guard, then part of the liability would fall with the security organization. Kids, especially pledges, shouldn't be put in a position to be the gatekeepers of events. It seems that IU should be looking at solutions to the problems that have existed over the years, without attempting to rid greek life altogether. You wouldn't be where you are today with all of the accusations, mis-information, and drawing incredibly negative attention to your organizations and your school if the young men from one fraternity had respect for the young men of another fraternity and stayed away from where they were not invited.
