As for why IU is so aggressive about kicking chapters off, look at the Bloomington Faculty Council Meetings which are available online....it becomes pretty clear the Greek system has quite a few opponents in that body. I believe the long term goal is the complete elimination of the Greek system or at least the fraternities. Since this can't be done overnight without risking the ire of alumni who have donated millions to renovate houses, it needs to be done over time through impossible to comply with regulations. That is what the Vision for the Ideal Greek Community and the Agreement for Housed Greek Organizations are all about....IU can claim "we tried to work with these organizations, but they couldn't be salvaged."
