It is because IU is one of the few Greek systems where students have no input in the disciplinary processes. In the Big Ten, for example, there are only two other schools where students have no say in the process. At IU there are no clear rules and corresponding punishments as there are at other institutions. It is all arbitrary. An infraction that might get one chapter kicked off campus for five years might yield no punishment for another. In general, our chapters receive significantly harsher punishments than those at other institutions. If you want to fix this, you need to either separate from IU entirely or have Greeks take over the major student governing bodies (IUSG & Board of Aeons) to force changes.
