Because over the past 20 years, IU has kicked off 18 housed fraternities (pretty much everyone but Sigma Chi, FIJI, DU, & Lambda Chi). All the old traditions died off when chapters started over. Compare this to Illinois which has only kicked off 5 or Alabama which has only kicked off 3 over the same period. That is why other campuses still have Greek traditions and IU does not.
