a group of like ten older brothers who were very well regarded in the fraternity (past presidents, vp’s, chairs) filed a grievance against the current president last May. the reasons were seen as very valid by the brotherhood as the president had started putting individual and alumni interests before the brotherhood’s interests. Shortly after the grievance was denied, alums and housing corp dropped these ten guys. of note, these alums and housing corp never gave reasons as to why these ten were expelled (although safe to assume it was from the grievance) besides two very long-winded and ambiguous emails “they didn’t meet phi psis high standards”. the current president also refused to communicate on the issue when called upon by the entire brotherhood. it became incredibly strange. brothers began to drop because of the backwardness and shortcomings of leadership. housing corp got upset and then started imposing lots of demands for guys to live-in and extra fees because they realized the house might not get filled aka pay off the huge mortgage that housing corp had previously dug themselves into. More brothers then dropped. alums then also took majority control of all decision making in the house to mitigate risk (hence 1-2 parties per semester). Current live-ins have been instructed to call the police on those previous members if they ever see those ex-members ever set foot on phi psi’s premise. Alums are also pledging like 70 guys this fall to fill the house.. bc a kicked off fraternity and unfilled house doesn’t help housing corp’s steep financial problems. Priority became mortgage > brotherhood. More guys then dropped. It’s all backwards. The brotherhood has no power and the president (who graduated last spring but still lives in the house..) likes it that way as he continues to serve as presidnet. I feel really bad for the sophomores who are now the primary group in that house. It’s hard to find many redeemable qualities rn within that chapter besides a few good guys and their physical house. The overall chapter is lost and guys within it are frustrated bc they were sold something that’s. not. Rush another place. you deserve a better fraternity experience.
