I left SDSU for this reason, I am in greek life at my new school and the social environment around greek life is completely different. I'm in a "top house" (even though no one really cares about that here) and we have exchanges with top frats and bottom frats. Everyone has socials with everyone. When I tell people about SDSU in this context they are shocked too. All I can say is try not to let this shallow mindset get to you! Everyone is so much more than their "tier" and what frats you go to. This is something SDSU needs to work on and hopefully it will improve as they add more sororities/fraternities. In the meantime surround yourself with people that look past this and you will still have a great time at SDSU :)
